This assignment requires the application of conceptual tools and theories selected in A1 to critically analyze your PfL. That is, students need to develop an integrated understanding of the multiple dimensions of the project, in order to explain the hows/whys of the projects outcomes. Informed personal reflection (based on the application of conceptual tools and theory) on project management processes, surrounded by specific situations and leading to specific outcomes, constitutes the core of this assignment. Thus, this assignment was designed to get you thinking critically about how concepts/theories for managing complex project are applied in diverse context-situations. It was also designed to develop your generic skills in writing and presenting logical and persuasive arguments. I have noted there is a portion of students who are not performing well. There are several reasons. Some have not followed instructions provided in the Study Guidelines or; have not read the Deepwater case uploaded in

(instead they used other sources or summaries). Others have presented a Google report. They have just used some key works (e.g. change management) in Google and use whatever information provided (usually from Wikipedia or any other web site of unknown origin) to write their report using the same references. This is unacceptable and constitutes form of plagiarism. You need follow the workshops, read the full Deepwater case uploaded in

(if you are not using a case from your own experience), study prescribed readings, and do your own original analysis. Advice to improve your performance in A2: 1. Follow instruction written in Study Guidelines; 2. Base you A2 on your reading of the Deepwater case uploaded in

You need to read 2 chapters (Chapter 1 and Chapter 3). DO NOT use other sources on the Deepwater case; 3. A2 is about application of models/concepts selected in A1. This involves using a combination of data from case and concepts/models/theories related to the topics you selected, in order to explain why the project was successful or failure. Then, A2 is not just a mechanical application of some models. Just mapping your case in the Diamond model, for example, is not enough. 4. Search and read the academic literature related to the topics you have selected in A1. You dont need references on the Deepwater case. 5. Base you critical analysis on a combination of information provided in the Deepwater case and on your readings of academic references on the selected Themes (e.g project management and complexity, or Change management etc.). 6. DO NOT focus on what needs should be done. Focus on explaining why and how Deepwater case failed, from the conceptual perspective you selected (e.g. Diamond model etc.). 7. DO NOT use analysis of the Deepwater case that you can find on the web. There are analysis of Deepwater case from other perspectives (e.g. environmental, or from the oil industry that focus on technical aspects only), that do not meet the requirements of his course. Do not use them. I want to see YOUR analysis of the Case. 8. Analysis need to be done based on the events BEFORE the explosion only. What plagiarism is? Plagiarism is presented in diverse forms and extents. Forms of plagiarism On the one hand, plagiarism is referencing, or attribution of work is not clear or adequate or, has numerus errors; inappropriate paraphrasing.
